I agree. What I don’t understand is how Trump can be so clever and brilliant in so many ways but seems to have a knack for making horrible choices for the people he put in his administration. Sessions and Bolton are prime examples.

Why didn’t he fire Haspel right after this raid? Then have her interviewed by DOJ.

I agree that Trump made some pretty crappy personnel choices.

But look at Trump’s background.

A “pure” politician (pun intended) has bazillions of friends, plus friends of friends, so there is no shortage of patronage seekers looking for work. I’m sure some of these coat-holders might even be capable of doing real work.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, is a competitive businessman. I’m sure his job required some sharp elbows and occasionally a pocket full of “envelopes” when the inspectors came around. He wouldn’t have many people he could fully trust, I expect.

Sadly, Trump was too trusting and left a lot of Obummer holdovers in place and they’ve been working against him the entire time. Next term, Trump needs to start by rolling lots and lots of heads down the stairs, then taking advice only from those he actually trusts to fill vacancies.
