We Are All Southerners Now
American Thinker ^ | November 14, 2020 | EM Cadwaladr

When I was growing up in Ohio, the South began at the banks of the Ohio river. Below that muddy line, everyone knew, there lived a different breed of backward and uneducated people with lazy minds and even lazier language skills. You could have contempt for them, a privilege I indulged from time to time. I personally learned this contempt from two main sources.

Let me be clear, ANYONE I know who Voted for Beijing Biden and Heels up Harris is dead to me.

This Election transcends Political differences, this is an assault on our Constitutional Republic.

My prediction of when the “troubles” will escalate is when Millions of America loving God Fearing Citizens refuse to comply with the DEMONcRATS Gun Control mandate and refuse to Register and pay a $200 Tax on their Semi Automatic Firearms.

The first incident of “Beto” Biden sending his Jack Booted Government Thugs to break down he Door of a Citizen who refuses the comply will light the Fuse.

“They love making jokes about rednecks until their car breaks down”

I’ve lived in the south my whole life. I am a gun owning, truck driving, tobacco chewing redneck. Believe me, you would not want me working on your vehicle.

The notion that the entire northeast of the US is all liberal is as stupid and bigoted as the notion that all southerners are Klan members.

“The notion that the entire northeast of the US is all liberal is as stupid and bigoted as the notion that all southerners are Klan members.”

Is this directed at me? I didn’t say, allude to, or suggest that. I didn’t even mention a part of the country. I’ve heard that President Trump is from somewhere in the northeast. What would make you have the thought that all southerners are klan members? What biases do you have?

First of all I didn't address you personally so cool your jets.

Secondly Donald Trump was born in the borough of Queens, that's in New York City so I suppose that makes him a “Yankee’’.

Further more you seem to rather defensively missed the point. There are many Southern Freepers here who go on loud and long about how the northeast is nothing but a waste land of America hating liberals and this is simply not the case as in many liberals assume all Southerners are bed sheet wearing Klansmen which is not the case. Do you get it now? My bias'' is not against Southerners. My bias is against the Confederacy and what it stood for. It NEVER cases to gall the hell out of me that people who venerate a bunch of treasonous Southern Democrats and call themselves conservatives come to a conservative web site and engaging in this nonsense.

One thing the article failed to mention was the high percentage of southerners have ancestors and people who have fought in the two world wars and wars since then.

Losing the war between the states has not deterred them from fighting for the union. They are as patriotic for this country as many, if not most, northerners.

A great many of my southern relatives fought in WW2. May dad, for instance, was a lifer in the Army, in the 2nd Armored Div. under George Patton, in tanks in the Korean War.

What an absurd thing say. Southerners are more patriotic and have fought in greater numbers in Americas wars than northerners?

I was born and raised in NJ. I have ‘’Yankee’’ ancestors who proudly served this nation in two world wars as have thousands of other Northerners.

First of all, your belief is self-contradictory. You think Southerners and Midwesterners resented the wealth and power of New York City and would join together against the East Coast. But you also believe that an independent South would develop into a great economic power. Therefore, people in the Midwest and West would grow to resent the South as much as they resented the East. If NYC and the East Coast really did lose wealth and power they wouldn't be seen as a threat by those further west, and New Orleans or Charleston would.

Secondly, an independent CSA was headed towards slave revolts and eventually a race war. Midwesterners and those further west wanted no part of that. You believe that 19th century Northerners didn't much like African-Americans. And they didn't. They didn't want the competition. So why would they join a country that relied so heavily on Black labor? It makes no sense.

Third, California and the West Coast were largely agricultural until WWII. Farming, ranching, forestry, mining, and fishing were mainstays of the economy. In the 19th century, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Buffalo were bigger cities than Los Angeles. There was no reason for Midwesterners to hate or fear or feel alienated from the West Coast. They might have seen California as a place to visit or retire or move to, or they might not have thought of it at all. It wasn't what it is today -- that was also true of other regions as well.

Because of past and ongoing colonization by the Northeast after the invention air-conditioning.

The change has already happened and doesn't show signs of reversing. But I don't think it's all Northerners. Big cities and their suburbs tend to think alike nowadays.

Focus on the actual argument or go away. Do you really think if the CSA had survived that most of the rest of the country would have joined it?

jmacusa never conceals his South hating bigotry. He may attempt to justify it but he never hides it.

There’s a small group here who are indistinguishable from Antifa when they descend upon threads dealing with Dixie. Demonize Confederate history, equate the Battle Flag to the Swastika. The usual that you’d expect from BLM and friends. I recall one of them regretting that Robert E Lee hadn’t been hanged as a traitor. That should tell you all that you need to know about their character.

“A great many of my southern relatives fought in WW2. May dad, for instance, was a lifer in the Army, in the 2nd Armored Div. under George Patton, in tanks in the Korean War.”

Patton’s own paternal grandfather, and two grand-uncles, were Confederate officers. John Mosby, “the Gray Ghost”, was a regular visitor to the Patton household in San Marino near Los Angeles.

I don’t think that Dwight Eisenhower had Confederate ancestors but he definitely had a high opinion of him:

How a Worm Gave the South a Bad Name
Hookworms once sapped the American South of its health, yet few realize that they continue to afflict millions.

A 1926 study of Alabama school children found that the greater the number of worms that students harbored, the lower their IQ.
