This election reminds me of 1876 in both good ways and bad ways.
The Republican Congress (one state, one vote per Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution) ultimately chose the Republican President (only _one_ _day_ before the expiration date of Grant’s term, btw).
However, there was mind-boggling fraud in 1876 leading to laughable claims of the “largest turnout in history”.
Nobody of any consequence went to jail for it.
