Senior administrators at Haverford College put their own jobs on the line in an effort to address concerns of racial inequities at the college and end a strike led by students of color, which has stretched into a second week.

During a tense listening session via Zoom with Black student organizers and an audience of nearly 300 students and faculty members on Nov. 5, one student using a pseudonym asked President Wendy Raymond to resign “if effective change does not occur” to support students of color, who say they have been treated inequitably for decades. Raymond and other college leaders agreed that if adequate progress is not made, it would be appropriate for them to leave.

If you have specific evidence of racism, then your remedy lies in a lawsuit or administrative hearing. If rules are racist, the remedy is proposing new rules. If you have no evidence beyond “micro-aggressions” like maybe the school colors are gold and white rather than gold and black, you go on strike.

The total four year cost is about the size of a home mortgage. Its no wonder the professors and administrators are living high.

We know how this ends. The president of the college will cave. If she does the right thing and fails all the striking students she won’t have the backing of the woke Trustees and she’ll lose her job. Then she’ll be forever blacklisted by the Woke University Universe.

Reminds me of the olden days of Al Capp’s LI’L ABNER comic strip and the S.W.I.N.E.(Students Wildly Indignant About Nearly Everything).
It ended when the University administration, in fear of the SWINE, sold out to the Mafia, who then took over the university.
I still get a thrill remembering how the SWINE then attacked the Mafia enforcer’s brass knuckles with their teeth.

“A tense Zoom listening session”?!?! Please. This means snotty, empty-headed students “of color” haranguing school administrators who are not permitted to respond or reply — except to grovel and capitulate. Billorites is exactly right: These are affirmative action students bitter at being unable to keep up with their white and Asian classmates looking for excuses. And those $75,000/year fees? You can be sure not a single one of those ingrates of color is paying his own way. Colleges and universities throw buckets of money at non-white and non-Asian students to lure them in and pad their demographics.

“I went to a large public university that was uncaring, indifferent, unconcerned, unfeeling, and unsympathetic.”

Per chance, were you at the University of Minnesota back in the 1980’s?

Your description sounds a lot like the U of M when I was there at that time.

Any parents dumb enough to send their kids there deserve to get ripped off by the college.

Is this school open for in person, classroom learning, or is this all happening from parents’ basements?

who say they have been treated inequitably for decades

I suggest dropping out after a decade or two and save your money.

I wonder if any of the strikers are on scholarship or using student loans.
