Why would a “Detroit city worker” have access to the U.S. Mail?

USPS has their own employees.

Why would a “Detroit city worker” have access to the U.S. Mail?

Maybe he was told to change the dates in the voter database?

read the article nothing about postmarks

“The MIGOP has referred a whistleblower case to the U.S. Attorney in which a city of Detroit employee was directed to change the date of receipt, in the official election record on ballots which had been received after the deadline,” Cox said. “This directive allegedly came from both City and State employees who were working at the TCF center.

In the video I saw, the ‘worker’ was in the counting area...and was using an old fashioned stamp—one that flips around to put the imprint on the paper item, and flips back up against the ink pad.

The date IS SET MANUALLY.

I used one years ago in accounting departments. I could use the same date for 30 days if I wanted.

I got the impression they were stamping the OUTSIDE of the ballot ENVELOPE.

When those ballots are separated from the envelope, there won’t be a received time stamp....of any kind on the ballot itself.
