We need to go back to a single day election with limited absentee voting. In Florida the mailed ballot must be RECEIVED by 7pm on Election Day. Same time as the polls closed.
This really shouldn’t be that hard. We’ve been doing this for almost 250 years.
State Election Law controls the conduct of all elections in that particular state. Michigan Election Code 168, et seq. says a mailed ballot must be received for counting by 8pm on Election Day.
Anything received after 8pm on Election Day in Michigan is not eligible to be counted, just like votes received after 7pm in Fla.
