In 2000, there were 12 states that Bush that were not called right away versus 7 states that Gore won that were not called right away.
For Bush, the average time to call the state was 110 minutes. For Gore, it was 49 minutes.

The media think they’re in charge of calling races.
But they obviously all don’t agree. NYT’s needle has been sitting on the peg for over an hour and they won’t call it for Trump. The only plausible reason is to avoid discouraging voters out west. If so they’ll probably do it right after polls close in the west.
