OK, My apologies, you did manage to be older than me.

You're welcome to use my old tagline, I stole it fair and square.

All that being said, "May I speak to your supervisor?" generally gets results. I've never had to go more than two levels up, always starting with, "He was polite but he doesn't have the authority to say yes, I hope you have some actual authority?"....

I've only needed to resort to screaming once, as in "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BANK OF AMERICA WON'T HONOR A CHECK DRAWN ON BANK OF AMERICA???? IF BANK OF AMERICA WON'T CASH A BANK OF AMERICA CHECK WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE EVER ACCEPT A CHECK DRAWN ON BANK OF AMERICA???"

It took the branch manager no longer to arrive than it did for the first echos to die down.

They cashed the check, which was drawn on that very branch...
