I hear you and agree. My point was that there are some people whose contributions over a long period include being involved in lots of stuff that nobody currently knows about (and doing it well). Non-performers, no matter how long tenured, should be shown the door.

For quite a while I have believed that there was some upside to Andy Jackson’s “Spoils System” of awarding government work.

This is as close as we’ll get to it in modern times, so it works for me.

After President Trump is re-elected, I hope, like Richard III, he “hews his way out (of the swamp) with a bloody axe”.
