Supreme Court Rebuffs Republican Requests In Swing State Election Appeals
Washington Free Beacon ^ | October 28, 2020 | Kevin Daley

The Supreme Court dealt a blow to Republicans in battleground states Pennsylvania and North Carolina in a pair of emergency election appeals Wednesday night.

In the Pennsylvania case, the Court left in place the state's three-day grace period for ballots received after Election Day, but several justices indicated they could revisit the issue after Nov. 3 if necessary. In the North Carolina case, the justices outright rejected a Republican bid to shorten the state's mail-in ballot deadline from nine days to three after Election Day.

...

The Supreme Court has intervened to stop federal courts from tinkering with election procedures, the coronavirus pandemic notwithstanding, but Chief Justice John Roberts has voted with the Court's liberal wing to allow changes made by state courts. In a brief opinion Monday night, Roberts said that state law may sometimes require late-breaking adjustments, and state courts should have the final word on state law.

It said the vote was 5-3, so even if ACB voted for the Republican position it would still lose 5-4.

First, where in the news article does the word “governor[s]” appear?

Here is the constitutional provision you are told me to look at:

Text of Article 1, Section 4: The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

It is straightforward. So what?

Go back to the news article. It talks about Kavanaugh’s vote.

This is the correct take. Also, this whole order only deals with the expedited nature of the issue. Not the merits/substance. Just unnecessary freak out.

Maybe. Just so you know, I have volunteered to assist in the litigation of the election results on Trump’s behalf (and sadly for Romnmey several years back) in several states where I have appeared and practiced.

I do think the probability of a contested election is 90% though.

Good thing we wanted to put someone in with integrity. Except when they don’t vote our way.

The crazy is up to our knees today.

North Carolina board of elections changed the rules. Its was supported by the govenor.

Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf signed a bunch of elections rules into law over the objection to the GOP Legislature which did not pass the laws. It was upheld by the Penn Supreme Court, usurping the power of the Penn legislative branched.

Yes. Late voting in 2016 is how Dem Gov Roy Cooper won. And that was just a few hours late voting in certain precincts.

Evidently they didn’t have enough late “votes” in 2016 to give the “election” to Hillary.

But with 9 days that is plenty of time for the Damnocrats to manufacture enough fraudulent votes to overturn the President’s apparent victory on Nov 3.

This is very depressing news.

The PA decision was actually a win, because the ballots that arrive after Nov.3 have to be set aside for latter.

So what? they will all be Biden votes - as many as the rats can crank out so when the final tally is in, Biden will carry PA, NC, CA, SC - all with late counts.
