In most of the EU, Covid cases are rising much faster than in the US, but the death rate in the US remains higher. Since US medical facilities are supposedly the best in the world, this suggests that the US death statistics ARE being manipulated in an upwards direction.

RE: death rate higher in US. I checked worldometer yesterday. Death rate much higher in Germany and Russia. You have to normalize the numbers on their table to population, the right hand column. Germany is about 4 1/2 times US death rate in latest numbers.

If you add the EU together, they are DRAMATICALLY higher in deaths than the US. If you add their testing together, they are DRAMATICALLY lower than the US. Yet, their number of cases is significantly higher.

Everyone reports on the member states of the EU as if they were separate while the USA is reported as one. So, either count each of the 50 states alone or all of the EU.
