Delingpole: Why Won’t Top Medical Journals Publish Landmark Danish Mask Study?
Breibart ^ | )ctober 27, 2020 | by James Delingpole

Do masks protect against Chinese coronavirus and reduce its spread — or are they, as their critics maintain, mere empty gesture politics?

A major study which might finally have answered this question has been postponed indefinitely after three of the world’s top three medical journals mysteriously declined to publish it.

Danish newspaper Berlingske reports:

The researchers behind a large and unique Danish study on the effect of wearing a mask are having great difficulty in getting their research results published. One of the participating professors in the study admits that the still secret research result could be perceived as ‘controversial’.

For weeks, the media and researchers around the world have been waiting with increasing impatience for the publication of a large Danish study on the effect – or lack thereof – of wearing a mask in a public space during the corona pandemic.

Now one of the researchers who has been involved in the study has said that the finished research result has been rejected by at least three of the world’s leading medical journals.

These include the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Medical Association’s journal JAMA.

“They all said no,” says the Chief Physician in the Research Department at North Zealand Hospital, Professor Christian Torp-Pedersen.

However, the Professor does not wish to disclose the journals’ reasoning.

One of the study’s co-authors, Henrik Ullum, has tweeted that the authors are all ‘very unhappy’ about the delay of their study.

Your body paces your breathing to maintain oxygen levels as you exert yourself, experience changes in air pressure and altitude, or when the oxygen in the air is at a different concentration than normal. It’s when you have damage or some condition that impairs oxygen exchange and your body can’t keep up that you see significant decreases. Those conditions are less common among the general population than the comorbidities that CCP-19 is designed to exploit.

I miss the gym. I’d go back, if it has reopened, but I have a vulnerable person in my house, so I make due at home. Before all the gyms were closed there were people working out at my gym with masks. None of them passed out or turned blue, but one did spontaneously combust.

There’s a world of difference between arguments about how effective a particular type of mask is at preventing disease transmission versus making the argument that wearing a mask disrupts your immune system.

Sorry, didn’t realize this was from a thread from two months ago. The study is talking about a particular type of mask (cloth masks) capturing smoke particulates. Cloth masks are known to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of effectiveness at anything. But the point is still to reduce the range and volume of respiratory droplets exhaled from an infected person’s nose and mouth. Cloth masks are less effective than surgical masks, KN-95 masks, N-95 masks, etc. but they’re more effective than nothing at all.

A mask that filters even just a quarter of the bad stuff is still better than nothing at all, even if there exist better masks that filter 95%.

Masks have been used for over 100 years. Just because Dr Fauci says they’re bad now we go with whatever he says?

I only go back 70 years but I don’t remember masks being mandated to contain a virus
