Storm coming, is his family in Wisconsin or Florida waiting it out. Unfortunately lots of Illinoisans are following their lead.
Of course, not knowing the details of why the magic line positivity is 9% or 8%, I am just venting here. But the more tents I see outside of restaurants in northern Illinois so they can stay open during the Pritzker Lockdown, the more it appears that the state's private sector will disappear for at least 4 months, probably more. And in the spring when it's reasonable to expect that people will be willing to sit outside to eat at a restaurant, there won't be many restaurants left. Just Pritzker Soup Kitchens.
Every region has to go through a big spike.
If your region did not go through this spike it will, eventually.
Poor New Zealand doesn’t seem to understand this and will lockdown forever. Once they allow anyone in, and eventually they will, they will get their spike. Count on it.
Once you go through the spike the pandemic in your region is largely done.
Remember, Illinois is one of those states that barely “opened up”, and has been under especially severe restrictions ever since this started. And yet they are doing horribly.
Meanwhile, Virginia was a lot less locked down, and opened up more completely, and if the country had the same statistics as Virginia, only 100,000 would be dead.
