The “bisexual” category really muddies the waters here.
Any young women who may have felt an attraction to another woman (even without acting on it) could check that box if that it was “cool” to do so.
That is probably 75% of the total imho.
Teen girls and young women today are all but expected to be bisexual, which for females is viewed as natural, perfectly normal and without any social rebuke.

Lesbian until graduation has been a joke for generations. Moreso now due to the cache of all things alternative. I really wouldn’t read to much into this. If 30% of guys were identifying as homo we would have a problem.
It seems like every female celebrity, even those married to men, like to say they’re ‘bisexual’, all the cool kids are doing it.
