As Illinois smashed another daily record with 4,942 new coronavirus cases reported Thursday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker threw down the gauntlet to suburban bar and restaurant owners threatening to flout his latest restrictions on indoor drinking and dining.
The Democratic governor issued his harshest warning yet to potential scofflaws before his indoor dining ban goes into effect Friday in Will, Kankakee, Kane and DuPage counties, where COVID-19 infection rates are soaring to new highs.
But some owners say they will still seat customers inside, arguing the latest rollback means a “death sentence” for their businesses after months of struggling to stay afloat while following guidelines and avoiding outbreaks.

This is NOT about the Virus - The Circus Elephant Governor of Illinois is losing his “Fair Tax” bill on the ballot this year. This is voter suppression in all of the collar counties that vote Red and are against the Fair Tax.
Putzker is drumming up fear to keep voters home.
Of the 4942 new cases, how many showed symptoms, how many receiving treatment, how many hospitalized???
I understand the general rule is that over 85% new cases show no symptoms.
Is he really going to lose it? His commercials say that 97% of the taxpayers will have their taxes go down. If you're an uninformed vcoter (like most are), that would seem pretty compelling and very persuasive.
What they're not admitting is that it'll kill seniors.
good point, btw I live in Kane county and while I can’t eat in one part of Elgin, A small portion of Elgin is in Cook county and I can eat inside there. Or I can drive 10 minutes east and eat inside in Hoffman Estates.
In Illinois if a single patient is tested for COVID-19 more than once he or she is counted more than once. Every test is added to the inflated statistics.
It is alleged that Pritzker has invested in the COVID-19 testing company. Over 7 million tests have been performed in the Prairie State.
The business of America is business ... not being safe.

Although I am much relieved by Trump’s strong performance in last night’s debate, I fear that certain blue state/blue city authorities may actually try to ramp up restrictions after Trump wins his second term.

Considering that Trump has taken a classically federalist stance on epidemic restrictions up to this point, I have to wonder what his next moves will be. I have no doubt that Trump recognizes the desperate need to reopen the economy and resume some semblance of normal life.
But tyrants like Cuomo, Newsome, Whitmer, Pritzker, et al. will remain in office.
And I suspect many of them will try to take revenge on their rebellious subjects.
Meanwhile, even here in sunny Southwest Florida, we have our share of fools and fanatics who believe in the efficacy of masks, etc.
You might be right. I think they will move on to Russia again and just rioting. That said, the COVID-19 thing has been their most successful attack on the President, so they might just quadruple down on it.
