Can you imagine the impact on congressional races, that is what I meant by particularized results?

I talk with many Democrats who don’t know my views. This week I mentioned the laptop problem of Joe’s. Or Toobin’s zoom faux pas. They’d not heard this news! One relative who does know I support Trump has the same tone of voice as Lesley Stahl. There’s no point in arguing with them. They lack knowledge of political philosophy and facts. These are successful, intelligent, college educated folks (and that’s the problem.)

"And that baker’s dozen of groupies he drew in will really help."

I couldn't help but think when I saw the pictures of Obama yesterday, that in his mind he was thinking, "What the fuck am I doing here?" He can't be at all happy that hardly anyone showed up, certainly not like the crowds he got when he ran in 2008.

"It confirms other sources that say that Trump is going to get about 16% of the African-American..."

Thanks...I'll keep my fingers crossed for more.

Wallace makes it clear that few institutions in the world turn out more pretentious misinformed people than the Ivy universities.

Waze is pretty amazing. When it says pothole in 200 yards, believe it.

We use Waze a lot for driving between Denver and the mountains. We have gotten to the point that we double check it with a different navigation system b/c "she" is so off sometimes. We will be driving down I 70 and "she'll" say "make a U-turn". hahah! It is really great in places where you are not familiar with streets, though and on long trips. It will tell you precisely when to turn and on what road. Extremely helpful!

OK as a woman here—honestly there are no longer any such thing as “housewives.”

It’s just a very rare bird these days. Only the most very wealthy women (and they don’t like the term) and the very poor women (and they don’t like the term) are “housewives.” And the very poor are not wives. They are single moms.

There are no more housewives. Women all work now, except for maybe when they have kids under age 5.

Since you asked, I’ll report what my father noticed about the U.S. assessment of Hitler. Early on, the liberals were quite happy with Hitler and defended him.

Then, at a particular point, the American leftists turned on Hitler and insisted he was the epitome of evil.

Why the change? When I was in high school in the 1960’s, I had certain “proof texts” in order to discern whether history books were reliable or they were leftist propaganda.

First, I would look at the end of the Korean war. It was popular to posit that the primary support for North Korea was the Chinese. One saw that lie on TV depicted by M*A*S*H. The reality was that the North Koreans were highly dependent on the Soviet Union. This became obvious to anyone paying attention when Stalin died and the North Koreans came to the peace table within months. The replacement Soviet leadership were not able to deliver the war supplies in the face of opposition at home. Many textbooks continued to push the Chinese nonsense, but the Chinese were unable to help except for troops.

The second proof text for history books and this leads us to the question at hand, was whether they would mention that Stalin and Hitler were allies when the war broke out. Many texts would just ignore this since they were unwilling to smear the Communists.

Back to the relationship with American during the war. Hitler turned on Stalin since he never trusted Stalin and assumed that he might as well strike first and get the upper hand. On June 22, 1941, the Germans launched operation Barbarossa in order to invade the western Soviet Union.

My father said that June of 1941 was the month when American leftists changed from supporting Hitler and lobbied to keep America out of the European conflict to lobbying heavily to get America into the war. FDR had surrounded himself with left-leaning politicians. One of the most influential was Alger Hiss, who was a Soviet agent.

“We had a good relationship with Hitler before he invaded Europe.”

So, to add to my prior post, yes, there was enough lobbying from the left so that Hitler was acceptable to FDR before Hitler (and the Russians) invaded Europe. However, the statement is actually wrong, since that "good relationship", however tenuous, continued even after Hitler invaded Europe. For instance, the Russians invaded Poland by train from the east while the Germans invaded by sea from the north while they were still allies. Other countries were invaded after that. So it wasn't the "invasion of Europe" that changed our viewpoint so much as Operation Barbarossa when the Germans stabbed the Russians in the back.

She talked over Trump, but not Biden from what I have seen so far.

I would like to see the stopwatch for each of them.
