McConnell says Senate will vote to confirm Barrett on Monday, Oct. 26

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate will vote Monday to confirm Trump Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett to the high court.

McConnell made the announcement during his weekly press conference.

"I think that will be another signature accomplishment," he said, "in our effort to put on the courts, the federal courts, men and women that believe in the quaint notion that maybe the job of a judge is to actually follow the law."

The GOP-led Judiciary Committee will likely sign off on Barrett at the end of the week, following four days of hearing last week, clearing the way for McConnell to schedule the vote.

“the hearings yes, and the vote to get it past committee, but then the full senate floor vote monday”

Still have 30 hours of debate on the Senate floor. If that doesn’t include Saturday and Sunday, the vote will not happen on Monday.

I think the vote to move her out of the Judiciary Committee for the full vote was always this week. Oct. 26 is awesome.

Once a vote to confirm passes, what is the step to be sworn in?

they take two oaths after senate confirmation vote and then they’re in.
I guess they could do it the same day, I don’t know if that is the usual practice

After her performance at the hearings, I wouldn’t be surprised if some Dems voted for her.

I expect Roberts will return to voting Constitutionally once he is no longer the deciding vote and his blackmailers can’t use him any more. Expect a lot of 6-3 losses for Big Leftism coming up.

Not if it wasn’t blackmail that caused him to flip. Maybe he was a lib all along but hid it until he got his SCOTUS seat... or maybe he was bribed, in which case the money may not stop.

“That’s got to be one of the fastest SC appointments ever.”

Nowhere near. Abraham Lincoln nominated Salmon P. Chase to the Supreme Court on December 6, 1864, and Chase was confirmed by the Senate the same day.

In 1988 Senator Packwood was hiding in his office and wedged a chair against the door. The sergeant of arms got a posse of 6 Capitol police officers and dragged him feet first for a quorum.
