I heard the full disclosure today on Rushs show and the headline is a perfect example of outright fear mongering and sensationalism. Rush said he was given a bleak diagnosis initially. He did not detail the type of cancer, but from his description it sounds very much like small cell lung cancer. It is certainly a deadly form of cancer, but there are worse cancers.
Rush said he has come to terms with his mortality. We will all follow in his footsteps (that is death). He has come to terms with his disease and the potential outcome, he said. He indicated he has a personal relationship in Jesus Christ, which has to be reassuring. Most people dont face their own death very well
As a cancer patient myself I can tell you it is a liberating experience to have the time to make preparations and the mindset to accept and not fear the future. You learn to focus on the really important aspect of living when you are in that position. Rush said the same today. I fully understand what he meant!
Finally, he said the first two treatments did not work, but the third did. It stooped the growth but recently there were some nodules found. My guess he is going to one of the top cancer centers in this country. They have plenty of treatment options. So, he moves on to the fourth optIon. I have seen people go through 5 or 6 treatment regimens before they reach success.
Rush is a fighter and will not give up. That is worth a great deal for someone in his situation. Prayers do help, too. I believe hen will be with us for a while.
The man is truly amazing. Among so many other things, he has the top-rated radio talk show in the country - and is deaf.
Love him like family.
