As you probably know, 2020 is the 400th Anniversary of the Pilgrims’ Landing in 1620. The Town of Plymouth, MA has been celebrating this awesome anniversary for two solid years, with concerts, exhibits, programs, displays, and celebrations which were supposed to culminate on Thanksgiving of this year. The Taverns, Bars, Restaurants, and Hotels were all involved, as were the Local Native Tribes, and all the region’s Musicians and Entertainers.

Since ALL of my family are in the Music Business, we were all booked solid for this wonderful and important two-year-long event.

Well, of course, the lockdown put the kibosh on all of that. It’s been a pathetic summer for us all.

Recently, the Restaurateurs, Bar-Owners, Musicians, and Retailers have been struggling to revive the Tourist Industry. Court Street has been made One-Way so the restaurants and bars can spill out onto the sidewalks (even though it’s getting chilly in New England). Bands are still not allowed, so the musicians have split up into soloists and duos. Everybody is trying SO hard!

And yet, just last week several places were “raided” by the “COVID-Cops” and either told to disperse or even shut down.

We have been told that we are a “RED ZONE”.

Grrrrrrrrr.....

A red zone, does that mean Plymouth votes Republican? Were that the case it's enough for a shutdown. Hopefully they can extend it to next year, the 400th anniversary of the Thanksgiving meal.

Alternately Plymouth could celebrate King Phillip's War, in which the natives killed about 30% of New England colonists including many from Plymouth. They wouldn't dare shut that down.

It's going to take years for tourism to recover.
