Well, that’s easily enough explained. Biden is 77. If he was ‘raised in the church’ that was several decades before Drummond’s time.

I’m a few years younger than Biden and I remember that in the ‘50s, Baptists and Catholics weren’t all that ecumenical. I can remember priests saying that while it might be theoretically possible for a Protestant to go to Heaven, it wasn’t very likely. And Baptists were reluctant to acknowledge Catholics as being Christians at all.
