Who thinks it’s derogatory?

The Inuit never called themselves "Eskimos."

Rather, the epithet "Eskimo" was invented by neighboring Indian tribes - probably as a pejorative.

It means "eater of raw meat."

Only Canada started using inuit. All the other polar peaople are just fine with Eskimo. It wasn’t a perjorative.

There’s nothing derogatory about “eaters of raw meat.” Just ask the Japanese — or me. I love to eat raw fish.
