When a wild animal loses its fear of humans, problems always follow.

We have a bunch of deer living in our neighborhood. People give them treats all the time and they have almost completely lost their fear of people. Yesterday, two small bucks were sleeping in our front yard when we got home. We boxed one of them in when we pulled in the driveway. So I backed up a bit and sat their for a moment, but he just stood there looking at me. I got out of the car and hearded him away from the front door, he acted more like a wayward little steer than a deer. Because he didn't run off; he kept his distance but he was watching me like he thought I might have a carrot for him.

Then the two bucks started pushing each other around our yard with their horns locked because it is rutting season. My parents showed up in the evening and the two were still hanging around. The deer are basically tame, but skittish enough that they could still hurt someone. I am a little surprised that no one around here or a dog has not been injured in the last few years that I know of.

Deer are very adaptable...Suburban building takes away a lot of their habitat, so they adjust...
