Those of us who have actually been paying attention over the past several decades have pretty valid reasons for questioning anything coming out of the FBI, given the tactics that they have admitted to, and even bragged about in the past. The last few years have been a real eye opener for some who haven't really been following the FBI playbook for as long as some of us have.
Frankly, I think it is somewhat naive to accept anything proclaimed by the agency at face value. We have history and facts on our side. The FBI? Yeah, not so much credibility as your average pimp.

I don't feel morally superior at all; I feel deeply cynical. I generally support law enforcement and want to see them succeed; the schizophrenic attitude of the Freeper population at large on the topic can be deeply bewildering and demoralizing.
From the evidence presented, combined with the sentiment expressed by the accused and the displays of militancy in the spring, I have a hard time believing this entire thing is an FBI put up job. There are a lot of people in this country who have spun themselves an heroic myth about tyranny with themselves written in as the saviors.
I think your skepticism is healthy and warranted; you don't sound like a crank. But a lot of folks are just programmed now to automatically go off on these wild deep state fantasy rants anytime something happens that makes them feel uncomfortable. To me, the FBI is a law enforcement agency, this is a conservative, law and order regime, and they still thought these guys were a threat. I dunno. I guess I am doing "back the blue" wrong or something, because this FBI has been working for Trump and a Republican Congress for three and a half years, with all the appointment, budgetary, and political power that entails. So it seems deeply weird to me that they would expend such a wild amount of resources on such a huge, vast conspiracy involving dozens to hundreds of people, to... make their own benefactors look bad.
Not that it matters. They are federal charges, so Trump will just pardon them anyway.
