No, they are not. But their NY State representatives are beholden to other interests and won’t pay any attention to them. In many cases, these representatives run unopposed when an election comes around (the Republicans have abdicated) so there is no one else on the ballot.

That 60th Street, Bay Parkway incident isn’t far off my waking paths. In a normal year, I might even walk past there as Bay Parkway has a bus line and it runs past a few subway lines. I’ve walked instead of waiting for the bus. (Plus, stores with snacks ... )
What gets me is the Myrtle Ave incident — that is miles away on the other side of Brooklyn, and not easy to get to directly from Bay Parkway. They went looking for trouble, no two ways about it.
