The treatment requires what, exactly?
An emergency hospitalization???
The medications they are giving him are intravenous.
“An emergency hospitalization???”
Based on the type of treatment, this is as much a preventative treatment as anything. My guess from the description of the drug (and as reported in numerous places), this is a treatment primarily for those diagnosed early (or even cases that have not been diagnosed)
See the description below.

“Regeneron REGN-COV2 is an investigational dual antibody cocktail for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 disease. REGN-COV2 comprises monoclonal antibodies (REGN10933 and REGN10987) and was designed to block the infectivity of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.”
As for why the hospital, this drug in a phase III trial and has not received final FDA approval. Most trials require very close monitoring and usually brief hospitalization.
I am sure praying for our President, but I don’t believe it is serious from the above.
Just Precautionary
it requires very close monitoring. And patients with covid can,to use an informal medical term.”go south” very quickly. In a case like that a 5 minute elevator ride to the ICU is better than a 15 minute chopper ride.
