There was some discussion that the flu shots are generally based on known, long-term serious viruses (i.e. Spanish Flu) and what they encountered the previous flu season. Which kind of explains why some flu shots completely miss the new viruses and mutations.

It sounded like the medical community has little to go on from the previous flu season since detection and treatment was almost always geared toward COVID-19. It could be they are relying primarily on the 2019 flu shot for *this* flu season, possibly making even less effective.

Yes...I had not thought of the “immunosuppressant” factor. It does seem to make sense.
