The White House said Friday that President Donald Trump was suffering “mild symptoms” of COVID-19, adding that he was in good spirits and working in the family quarters though the announcement of his illness threw the country deeper into uncertainty just a month before the presidential election.
The revelation came in a Trump tweet about 1 a.m. after he had returned from an afternoon political fundraiser without telling the crowd he had been exposed to an aide with the disease that has killed more than 205,000 Americans and more than a million people worldwide.
First lady Melania Trump also tested positive, the president said, and several others in the White House have, too, prompting concern that the White House or even Trump himself might have spread the virus further. The Trumps' son Barron, who lives at the White House, tested negative.
Trump has spent much of the year downplaying the threat of the virus, rarely wearing a protective mask and urging states and cities to “reopen” and reduce or eliminate shutdown rules.
Both Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris have tested negative, their campaign said. Vice President Mike Pence tested negative for the virus Friday morning and “remains in good health,” his spokesman said.
Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who was with him and many others on Saturday and has been on Capitol Hill meeting with lawmakers, also tested negative, the White House said.
Trump's diagnosis was sure to have a destabilizing effect in Washington and around the world, raising questions about how far the virus has spread through the highest levels of U.S. government. Hours before Trump announced he had contracted the virus, the White House said a top aide who had traveled with him during the week had tested positive.

Praying for President Trump, when he can I would like to see him address the nation as he is the leader of the world fighting a war against a deadly virus.
He should state we are at the latter stages of this ongoing battle with the virus. We will soon release a vaccine and bring a end to this world menace.
I ask every American to join me in this battle my administration is presently fighting. And together we will make America Healthy again.

With the resources available to them, why do people think they’d wait until the last minute if he really did need a ventilator? Everything and the kitchen sink will be going there and kept close just in case.

The White House has a full scale medical facilities referred to as “The White House Medical Unit”. It would be beyond crazy to believe during this time they would not have a ventilator at hand.
Besides the CNN story if you read it with a critical eye only says a ventilator was delivered to the WH but it doesn’t say when.
I am betting there has been a ventilator there for quite some time, probably way before COVID.
Probably just like mine.. low grade fever, headache, tired. I lost my sense of taste and smell. Had it middle of June. I still don’t have it completely back.

If the president would ever need a ventilator, he would be at Walter Reed. They're not going to intubate him at the residence, for heaven's sake.
Unlike pancreatic cancer, getting Wuhan isn't a death sentence. Without knowing anything else about Trump's specific health issues, he's got a 1 in 40 chance of dying from it. Higher than we'd like, but way too early to be measuring him for a casket. Anyway, here's the link for the age bracket infection mortality study.
