The infection gets dangerous when it gets into the lung tissue and causes inflammation, which then the inflammation exacerbates the infection in that tissue. They can mitigate the infection, and if (when) they do he probably wont experience anything more than a general fever for a short period and cold like symptoms for several days... maybe some body aches.
Most people don’t catch their infection early, and most people do not get the intense medical care in the early stages like Trump would have.
