On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that he would “love to” make D.C. and Puerto Rico states and addressed the prospect of ending the filibuster if Democrats take the Senate by stating, “I’m not busting my chops to become majority leader to do very little or nothing. We are going to get a whole lot done. And as I’ve said, everything, everything is on the table.”
Schumer said that Senate Democrats are “using all the tactics we can” to slow down Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation.

Requires a Constitutional amendment and 2/3 of the States’ agreement?

I don’t know D.C. can be admitted as a state without a Constitutional Amendment. Besides the text in the Constitution itself which says the seat of government shall be in a Federal District no larger than 6-miles square (not 6 square miles), there’s the problem of the 23rd Amendment granting the Federal District 3 Electoral Votes.
Amendments have to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states.
That is my hope. I read on the interwebs that a simple majority is all that is needed. I really hope this is NOT the case.

When I was in Viet Nam,(1970-71) Puerto Ricans from Puerto Rico called the ones from NYC “New Yoricans”. The 2 groups did not get along AT ALL.
The unfair thing is YOUR state pays for the infrastructure that moves DC traffic - their “beltway” is in YOUR state and upkeep is primarily your financial responsibility. How will Maryland taxpayers react if DC becomes an actual state and Maryland is STILL paying for DC roads?
I suspect some of those would be red states if they did that.
Most people here are so completely immune to the thought that Government can be wrong and overbearing they won’t even think about it

With the attempted takeover and destruction of the U.S., democrats are far more dangerous to the country than the USSR and China or any other hostile country have ever been.

If democrats gives statehood to cesspool places a counter situation is possible Texas could divided itself into five states. Congressional approval is not required. Imagine Central, North, South, East and West Texas USA.

I was listening to a talk radio show the other day and a geniune caller (not a lib plant) was believing a false accusation Schumer said about ACB/other because “he seems honest.” The host gaffawed and and said when Schumer speaks “the devil comes out” in explaining the caller had been duped.

IIRC, the Constitution specifically says that the seat of the Federal Government can NOT be a state.

Be careful the precedents you establish by Executive Order, they may come back to bite you.
Shut DC down. It is a City State unaccountable to the people of this country.
