There were other examples, such as on the Green New Deal and tax policy, on which Trump failed to land obvious blows because he was too busy interrupting with pointless cracks.
I agree with this.
He often set up attacks only to fall back into repeating phrases that didnt communicate to outsiders what he was talking about.
This is correct IMO. For example, when Trump talked about how he had stopped travel from China and Biden had criticized him for it, he didn't make it clear what he was talking about. If you didn't already know about it, it didn't mean anything.
Trump was able to make some good points too, but some of the time it was like a boxer throwing punches that completely miss. He was off his game.
Reagan had a horrible first debate against Mondale in 1984. There was genuine concern for his campaign after it, of course we know what happened.
“For example, when Trump talked about how he had stopped travel from China and Biden had criticized him for it, he didn’t make it clear what he was talking about. If you didn’t already know about it, it didn’t mean anything.”
WTF are you talking about!? Are you saying someone watched the debate that didn’t know about the China Travel Ban!?
NO WAY that is possible.
Incumbent Presidents always seem to “lose” the first debate.
Yup. Trailing by at least 1,500 points out of 947 registered democommies queried. Guess the Bekins trucks will be all lined up 1/19/2021 on Penn Ave. Or NOT!
He really left alot on the table. He couldve bludgeoned Biden with facts...but decided to browbeat the guy with random misplaced one liners instead.
I think Biden’s behavior at the debate might have been a shot in the arm (ass?) for PDJT. When you’re President of the United States, and a crooked, addle-brained, pipsqueak tells you to “Shut up!” in front of the world ...
I don’t know, but it seems that Trump isn’t the type to let that go. I think that could have been a game changer for PDJT, and it’s a legitimate war from now on.
It's all BS, I don't need anyone in the MSM trying to tell me what I saw last night......
If any Republican nominee ever called the sitting president a “clown” during a nationally televised debate, the media would immediately declare the challenger unfit for office. What a double-standard! As for Trump’s performance, he could have handled some issues better in hindsight, but I have learned to trust his instincts even though they ofter don’t align with mine. Trump prevented Biden from being unanimously declared the winner, and that is good. Also, I don’t know how reliable the Telemundo poll is, but if it is remotely accurate, that is huge.

I think Trump talked over Biden too much as well, so it wasn’t his best.
Still, the biggest indicator of how the debate went is to look at how many on the left are advising Biden to pull out of the remaining debates.
I totally agree with this article.
The debate was an opportunity to reach the masses on the major issues where we need to make sure they see the big difference between the two parties (Liberty vs Communism) as this was going to be the biggest audience for the election, all those that dont pay attention to politics, all those that dont attend or see his rallies, those that only watch MSM and not Fox News. Im a huge Trump supporter, less because of Trump Himself and more because of the alternative direction for this country. Trump with his constant interruptions, faces, snide remarks, came off (not only to me but many of my Trump friends) as a bully, un Presidential, and thereby taking whatever negative focus could be brought upon Biden, away onto himself for his crazy behavior.
He needs to understand that this election has more riding on it than his ego.
Trump is his own worst enemy at times.
First sentence of the article shows their bias and stupidity.
The Washington Times was once the conservative alternative to the Washington Post.
Now, like Fox News, it is gradually but most certainly drifting leftward.
Its lead “reporters”, like Steven Dinan who is pro-illegal immigration, and Seth McLaughlin, who is never-Trump, and others on the reportorial and editorial staff seem to be in a race with Fox News to become the Post and CNN.
I would have liked to see President Trump call out Biden on his first lie: “That’s lie number one!” From then on, as Biden keeps up his lies, just call out “Two”, “Three”, “Four”. People will know what he’s talking about - and - it would probably rattle Biden.
