If there is an FBI scandal (and there are many of them), Trump should have had it ferreted out and fully prosecuted by now.

Pretty much. The FBI mess is on Trump squarely. Somewhere along the line he got the idea he should have stayed completely out of it so the FBI just simply played the usual swamp game in DC with their accomplices.
At the end of the day, Trump is the real director of the FBI. Wray works there at his pleasure. He never demanded answers and it has really hurt him in my opinion. Really hurt him.
On another note, this tax nonsense is just that. Trump has an army of lawyers and accountants who do his taxes. Period. The media treats this like he sat down with Turbotax like many of us and filled it out.
