You’re obviously too ignorant to understand how politics work. The base will already vote for Trump. He needs to acquire more voters, not give the undecideds reasons to jump ship.
If he makes no decision before Election Day, I think he wins re-election. If he nominates the sort of judge you want, we may wake up November 4th to President-elect Biden.
If he waits until after the election, he won’t need the moderates to re-elect him so he can be more dogmatic with his choice. Right now, he has to play to the middle.
your analysis could be right
another way to look at it is it seriously energizes his base to vote for him for nominating a great candidate
and that puts some pressure on the repubs in the senate to vote for him/her
further i see them still trying to steal states using fake ballots
this means the election isnt going to be over election night and they will push it out for weeks
they will say he cant put up a candidate if its in doubt which is what they want to do
now if its not decided by jan 20, if they keep the house a democrat will be president until its decided who won
they could easily put forth a candidate for scrotus then and just claim they have the right to do so
this would avoid this potential scenario, regardless of their ability to get the nominee approved or not
Shut up squish. Go to bed RINO.
agree
scouts may be vital to have if election fraud runs rampant
I thought the Biden rule was Soup at 4:00pm and Bed at 5:00pm.
he would be able to make a logical case for doing so that the moderates could understand
i was elected to do a job
part of my job is putting up candidates for scotus
its not a small thing
its not something that can sit vacant
the highest court deserves to be at full operating ability for them to work at peak ability with proper verdicts
there is no history of ‘waiting’ to put up candidates until after an election
this is a myth, our history proves that no party has ever done this or followed this either as a formal or informal rule
we need the court working with the proper number of justices to get the best of out the court
the people have put me in the big chair to make the big decisions, not wait to make the big decisions, but only if i win a second term, or only if the democrats don’t object to me doing my job
this is a critical spot, scotus is our highest court, and i’m not going to sit on my hands and wait to fill a vacany, there’s zero historical precedent to do so, despite what democrats want people to believe
therefore, i nominate........
It’s the thing. You know ... the.. thing . It’s Joe’s thing.

Drinking contest to put one or the other under?
Nonsense. What Trump supporter is going to switch to Biden because Trump once again keeps his promise to appoint constitutionalists to the Supreme Court? He is far more likely to lose if he steps aside and gives Mrs. Biden or Kamala the potential opportunity to choose the S/C nominee — and very likely in that case it would be someone like Obama or Hillary.
I think you have been listening to too many “reasonable” liberals, and reading too many political columns/books/editorials by inside-the-beltway RINOs.
Replace Ginsburg now.
Senators, like Collins, will be pressured to vote for the replacement now, before their re-election.
Afterward, they could derail Trump’s nominee without consequences.
If Trump loses, the court would be already be filled with good justices.
Yeah? Name one, a conservative originalist, who is between the age of 50 and 60.
Of all jobs that should place identity politics and feeeelings at the bottom of the list of desirable qualifications, Justice of the SCOTUS is among the uppermost.
Wrong question. What Trump supporter is going to not vote for Trump if he postpones his decision until after the election? Short answer: NONE.
Now ask what fence-sitter might decide to vote for Biden because they are liberal on abortion while being otherwise conservative (think someone like Tomi Lehren) because the last thought while voting is whether the right to abortion might be overturned due to Trump's latest SCOTUS pick? Answer: a lot more than you think might.
Yes, there's the chance Trump could be handing that SCOTUS pick to Biden or Harris if he loses the election but the way NOT to lose the election is to NOT make polarizing choices (and it will be polarizing regardless who it is) when he doesn't need to have this argument right before an election.
Only the knee-jerk red-meat conservatives want this discussion in September and October of an election year. The sane ones want it this winter after the election is over. The new president will likely be the same as the old president unless he does something to piss off a lot of voters like, say, choosing a polarizing and balance-shifting Supreme Court nominee.
I have the same objectives as the rest of conservatives but I think postponing the nomination is wise in the same way that dropping the hammer on all the Deep State treasonists will go better during Trump's second term when he no longer is concerned with re-election. Images of frog-marching Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Strzok, et al will be highly satisfying to many of us but it will also allow the Left to yell "police state" and demand another round of impeachment. You don't do those things right before an election if you can postpone it a few months.
Senators like Collins and Murkowski will be pressured to vote against anyone who isn't pro-abortion or be accused of putting women back in the Stone Age. The sharp knives will be out for Collins if she's seen as overturning Roe v Wade.
If Trump's nominee gets voted down (a very possible outcome), Collins merely says she voted no because she wanted a fuller vetting process or believes the candidate is insufficient in some way. If she votes yes, she signals to all her opponents that this is the type of judge that *she* wants on the Court.
I think the thought process here is backwards. Collins will be pressured harder to vote against than to vote for.
I agree with you.
