Nearly 20 percent of millennials and Gen Z in New York believe Jews caused the Holocaust, according to a new survey released Wednesday.
The findings come from the first-ever 50-state survey on the Holocaust knowledge of American millennials and Gen Z, which was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
For instance, although there were more than 40,000 camps and ghettos during World War II, 58 percent of respondents in New York cannot name a single one.
Additionally, 60 percent of respondents in New York do not know that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.
“The results are both shocking and saddening and they underscore why we must act now while Holocaust survivors are still with us to voice their stories,” said Gideon Taylor, president of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

The intentional lies are from both the Communists and Socialist Fascists on the Left covering up their past killing of millions and their intention to do it again.
I learned about the Holocaust, but for some reason was never told anything about the Holodomor.
But the Jews went one step too far IMHO. They banned Holocaust denials in many countries deeming it illegal hate speech. In the US they have made Holocaust denial a verboten topic that can get people fired from their jobs and shunned by people in general.
This led to a situation where there was no longer any Holocaust denial or Holocaust remembrance. The topic just fell off the radar.
I think it's better to allow people to deny the Holocaust and then present the facts to counter the deniers.
No one goes to jail for denying that we went to the Moon, and because of this when ever a loon does deny the Moon landings we get a slew of videos and books educating people on the Moon landings. A similar response was generated by the Flat Earth theory revival.
There was a robust discussion on You Tube a while back between Young Earth Creationists and Evolutionists. The YECs were humiliated and many people learned about evolution. But that discussion has disappeared and now YEC folks are crawling back out of their holes. But since talk of YEC is not verboten, there will once again be a thorough and educational discussion on the topic.
Better to let the haters and uninformed vent in public, rather than ruminate in the dark.

That’s because your teachers were communists, and they didn’t want to shed any bad light on their comrades.
Believe me, they passed the stories down. The children of survivors at times had their own forms of depression due to the parents trauma and PTSD; they never had a normal relationship with the survivor parent(s), thus creating their own issues. Not in most cases, but not uncommon.
They also felt the need to prevent this sort of thing from happening again, so they passed it on. It was rare for a family member not to share their story with their younger kin, but again, due to PTSD.
My Grandpa was in the Pacific, and when I was in middle school (’98-’01), we had survivors and veterans come and speak, along with a month-long unit on WWII.
Wish they’d covered communism in the same way.
If you think that is bad you should see how many rational and educated people on my social media timeline think that half the country are White Supremacists and that Trump is the second coming of Hitler.
And how many teachers in New York don't know that 6M Jews were killed? This is a generational thing because almost all new teachers in NY will come from original 60% of respondents. There is absolutely nothing rigorous about teaching today - or for that matter in the last 50 years. A degree in education is the equivalent to graduating nursery school. I was going to write grammar school, but most teachers can't even read, write and speak the American language beyond a 5th grade level.

That was my first thought!
When my daughter was in 5th grade she found the book “Diary of Anne Frank”. Then she went on a big studying binge about the Holocaust. Maybe a bit graphic for such a young kid, but she was very interested in it.
She gave a presentation at school. All of the kids thought she was lying. “How could one guy kill 6 million people?” The teacher obviously backed her up. It was another few years before the rest of the kids learned about it in Junior High.
I did tell our kids that while the idea of how we need to remember the past so it never happens again is a wonderful thought (and we do) - but it DOES keep happening again and again. Soviet Union, Cambodia, Serbia, Iraq, China, etc.
Geddy Lee from the rock band RUSH is the son of two Holocaust survivors. His mom and dad met in a camp as young teens but were soon sent to different camps.
At the end of the war, some of the camps were turned into “transitional housing” and the dad went searching for the girl and found her! They got married in the camp.
Geddy said that his mom told him all of the stories. “Well, that was a large part of her life as a child. Those are the only stories she had - so she told them.”
There was some movie about a prisoner (a Soviet Jew??) in one of the camps that help the NAZI photographer in the camp. He was able to smuggle some of the photos out to the rest of the world to show and prove the conditions. Also photos of top NAZIs visiting the camps so they couldn’t plead ignorance.
