The Piel family owned “Scientific American.” The wife of the Piel owner ran a Communist front group. I don’t know who owns “Scientific American” now, but it is still written as if the Piels still run it.

From a wiki, if that's legal: In 1986, it was sold to the Holtzbrinck group of Germany, which has owned it since. In the fall of 2008, Scientific American was put under the control of Nature Publishing Group, a division of Holtzbrinck.
