Didn’t work out too well for the Tsar and his family 100 years ago, end that was in a country and era with almost no technology.

Well, the fact is the Romanovs did not go into hiding; they were taken into custody by the Bolsheviks, imprisoned first at the Alexander Palace then moved to Siberia, where they ultimately ended up at the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinberg, where they were murdered.
