“ This is not supposed to be happening. How is Trump able to bring peace to the middle east without firing a single bullet whereas other presidents have spent 10s of billions and sacrificed tens of thousands of lives and achieved nothing ??”

I was asking myself the same question. I’m no Middle East expert so take it with a grain of salt. Here’s what I came up with:

Other US Presidents tried to broker a compromise between Israel and anti-Israel factions which do not even acknowledge Israel’s right to exist. Obviously, Israel can’t accept such a compromise - so any deals made on that basis were insincere, “for show” and were doomed to failure.

I suspect President Trump was the first US President in a very long time to point out the absurdity of expecting Israel to forfeit its right to exist - and to outspokenly pledge unconditional US support for Israel’s right to exist.

Symbols of President Trump’s resolve, including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, could not have been lost on the various parties. US rhetoric at the UN and in other international forums has sent a clear message to the world. Under President Trump, the US is no longer willing to “go along to get along.”

The specter of a US President promising US energy independence - and then achieving it - must have sent shockwaves throughout the world - especially the Middle East.

So, this series of talks may be the first truly honest attempt at brokering peace in the Middle East, absent the anti-Israel “poison pills“, absent the OPEC extortion, and absent NeoCon defense lobby conflicts of interest.

I think there have been decades of wishful thinking by of some of Israel’s ME enemies - that perhaps if they held out long enough, a sufficiently anti Israel US President would come along and help rid them of Israel once and for all. Or that a future US President would take military interventionism to the next step, creating opportunities to redraw boundaries in their favor.

I think this wishful thinking was encouraged by the Bush’s neocon schizophrenia following 9/11, and by the decidedly anti-Israel Obama administration as well.

Perhaps President Trump’s brutal honesty has brought an end to an era of wishful thinking by Israel’s enemies. Absent that wishful thinking, I imagine all parties can see the benefits of peace - especially when President Trump shows his willingness to use economic partnership with the US as leverage - both the carrot and the stick.

For someone who claims to not be an expert in Middle East politics, you make a very well reasoned and compelling argument.

I’m hoping all of your “speculations” come true as it would be good for the region, good for use, and would set our enemies back a few decades.

Nicely done.

I think you are right in your assessment of why this is happening under Trump’s Presidency, I would add ‘because God is causing this to happen’ as He is with many things under President Trump.

There are leftists saying either Trump or Jared Kushner is the antichrist and these peace deals with Israel are the proof. They cannot be reasoned with their hate for President Trump is so overwhelming. Anyone care to comment on this please do.
