Snake handlers HATE John MacArthur because of his book Charismatic Chaos, which in reality is aimed more at the Word of Faith charlatans than anything else (although none of them can refute the Biblical case he makes regarding tongues and slaying in the spirit.)
I’m no snake handler (how ridiculous) but the Holy Spirit is the same Spirit that fell at Pentecost, as prophesied by the Prophet Joel in the Old Testament.
Where MacArthur makes his mistake is throwing out charismatics with the bathwater.
He should have reminded charismatics “to test the spirits, my beloved, for not every spirit comes from God” and to test all things by the Word.
Instead, he throws the whole movement out.
MacArthur should have shown charismatics and pentecostals how to adhere to the Word even with the manifest gifts of the Spirit, mindful that “signs and wonders follow believers” while we should never seek a sign.
Hayford lost his own mind when he accepted the Vineyard teachings in 1999 and failed to correct/rebuke the Toronto Blessing/and the Apostolic Prophetic movement that can be sliced and diced by simple application of the Word of God to its weirdnesses.
This doesn't have anything to do with snake handlers, or charismatics, or John McArthur’s Calvinism. What it is all about is American citizens to worship as they perceive God desires. If we don't win this now, it is going to get worse for all of us: whether Christian, Jew, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon or any other group. In this matter I don't care what McArthur believes. He and others are fighting the good fight for all of us. If the enemy wins in CA this authoritarianism will spread!
