Suspend FMS deliveries, IMET activities and MMU. . .and they will be very interested in our ability to grind their military to a halt.

Looks like one of those football games with magnetic players vibrating around the field except, broken.

Nothing this bad had happened in decades.

Not wanting some nervous new kid to start a war, they had been under orders to avoid lethal force for a long time.

The Chinese guys just came walking over the line one day with a Chinese flag to plant a few hundred yards on the Indian side (and extra guys with sticks). What we saw looked to be that start of the hostilities. An Indian Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel went over to the Chinese side later to complain or sort it out with the Chinese Officer In Charge, and ended up getting beaten to death with one of the few men who came with him.

Basically, the benches emptied after that, for the main event - a really big gang fight, that ran into night fall, with about a hundred soldiers killed, mostly with bare hands, but also quite a few sticks. Many Chinese were killed by being pushed/thrown into the river. Reportedly, about fifty Indians and some number more Chinese were killed.

After this incident, battalions of guys with guns were convoyed to the area, and artillery units moved within range, by both sides.

Indian public opinion was outraged, with big movements to boycott Chinese goods, and uninstall Chinese apps off of their cell phones.

The Indian Government quickly started a pretty wholesale economic de-coupling program from China, stopping major projects dead, like a big new Chinese auto factory in Maharashtra, and imposing sweeping reviews for all foreign projects, as well as new restrictions and fees. These are worded generally, but only seem to be being used against Chinese companies, and to most of them.

Also, India quickly revived its active participation in the Quad (US, Japan, India and Australia), a Military partnership, basically against China.

This turned out to be a potentially historic break in Indian/Chinese relations.

No. Both sides have agreed to patrols having no firearms in order to hopefully not start a war.
