“But it’s still supported by so many Americans”
Two possible reasons:
1. Many people are truly scared of the disease and it’s contageous-ness.
2. Many people who working at home for the time being are doing better than when they had to commute to work.
We know a lot of people who are genuinely terrified. I think a lot has to do with the community where you live. When neighbors are masked and people in the shops are masked, and schools remain closed, it becomes the norm. We live in a very politically liberal area, and people get their news from the propaganda pipeline. They are terrified together. Group think reigns supreme.
If 1. they are too stupid to breathe.
