Trump warns schools teaching 1619 Project 'will not be funded'
Fox News ^ | September 06 2020 | Ronn Blitzer

President Trump said Sunday that the Department of Education is examining the use of the New York Times Magazine's 1619 Project in schools, and warned that institutions that teach this alternative narrative of American history could lose federal funding.

The project is based on the premise that American history began in 1619 -- cited as the date African slaves arrived in Virginia -- and that everything following this should be viewed through that lens. The Pulitzer Center released a school curriculum based on the project, and Trump responded to a tweet stating that California would be using it.

"Department of Education is looking at this," Trump said. "If so, they will not be funded!"

Thank you President Trump.

Actions like this are why I voted for you in 2016 and will vote for you again this November.

President Trump is absolutely right to do this.

Fifty years ago, the US education system was the envy of the world: It's commitment was to produce truth-seekers, to teach students to think for themselves, to cherish and defend freedom of speech and the free exchange of ideas. The more the students challenged the professor with innovative viewpoints, the more delighted he became.

Fast forward to the year 2020: The US education system has become an indoctrination system, whose objective is to produce an army of automatons, programmed to parrot dogma, to hold truth--truth for its own sake--in contempt, to think what they're told to think, and to silence heretical opinions, voices, and viewpoints and those who express them.

Today these automatons are burning American cities--and threatening to burn the USA to the ground if the anointed candidate is not elected.

And worst of all, roughly half the US electorate has been brainwashed to support them and the Democrat Party, which is their command.

President Trump is aware of this indoctrination and the dangers it presents. If schools wanted to present alternative viewpoints to US history, it would merely be part of the free exchange of ideas. However, to indoctrinate students to dogma such as the 1619 Project is dangerously misguided and cannot be accepted as dogma--and certainly not as truth.

This is what I hate about the GOP.

If the Federal Government is going to be involved in education, then Republicans should have made every effort that none of this BS liberal indoctrination crap should be taught.

That goes for the sex education, the men playing in women's sports, etc.

Either abolish federal control of education (and CA or NY can brainwash their kids but leave my kids in WI alone) or if the Feds are going to be involved, then make sure it's held accountable and the teachings are conservative.

Godd. The 1619 project is trash not fact.

“New York Times magazine staffer Nikole Hannah-Jones claimed this week that her infamous 1619 Project is not actually a work of history, but rather an “origin story.”

The 1619 project is crap but I am not in favor of setting such a precedent. A better idea would be for the Department to take a hard look at proposed curriculum current in so many schools and requiring more local parental involvement in approving them. It could also be required that students be allowed to opt out of material that is clearly meant to promote anti-U.S. sentiments. and be offered alternate materials.

American history began in 1619 — cited as the date African slaves arrived in Virginia .......................... That date came well after the 1500s when the Spanish came and tried to make the natives into a work force. Slavery was already here. On this planet no mater who you are or where you came from, we all had ancestors who were slaves through out history at one time or another.

It’s what the Department of Education has put in the “required curriculum” books and reading material that has ruined America and the school systems. Talk about dumbing down our kids, just look at common core math. We would have never gotten to the moon if the engineers had been forced this crap!

The only Republican president to actually effect cultural change. Someone please remind me what cultural changes the Bushes brought about, or McCain and Romney promised to.
