I think it would be fair to say Joseph Swan invented the concept of a vacuum bulb. Edison saw the problem with the design, improved it, and patented it. Ya he was a scumbag in a lot of ways, but this was good science and business. Oh, Joseph Swan was a white guy too.
Yeah in looking it up, Edison and his team get pretty universal credit for inventing and patenting the light bulb.
Most do no know that Bill Gates did not invent the operating system that became the first Microsoft platform. The man who invented the Personal Computer, and developed this system (called BASIC) distributed this system under a licensing agreement with his company, MITS, paid by Bill Gates and Paul Allen for each package—only they didn’t. He gave them their first real job writing code, and their takeaway was the BASIC system he invented and they were paid to assist writing the code- they did not invent it. Nor did they in any way pay Ed Roberts the money he should have been paid from the licensing. Just the same way they ran their business, too. Chiselers.
He was a genius. His name was Ed Roberts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Roberts_(computer_engineer)
