I have found myself going mostly to ethnic restaurants, where the nationality of the people working there matches the menu. So mostly Chinese immigrants working there, almost all family members; mostly Mexican immigrants working at a Mexican restaurant, again mostly family members; mostly Greek immigrants or first-generation American Greeks in a Greek based restaurant.

Sometimes you just have to get out of the house. But, I understand your concern about mostly food places; I've noticed that more and more the people who work in mainstream dining places look like they used to be carnival ride operators before the carnival fired them because they were just too strange to work at a carnival any more.

There is one exception to not eating out - a Chinese restaurant I will/would go to. I’ve run into the waitress shopping for fresh ingredients (food is obviously fresh, not ‘frozen’ & dumped in a fryer) at the grocery store - she recognizes me and is very friendly. It is a family type business. With all the pandemic crap going on, the last time I was there was in January; however, a lot of their business is take-out, so I suspect they’re doing “ok”. Also, they are just across the county line - no meals tax in that county! A friend & I have gone regularly to that restaurant to celebrate birthdays ... missed mine a few months ago, but hers is in November, so maybe we’ll give it a try.
