More than a decade ago, my wife gave me as a Christmas gift a single share of stock for Ruger, a leading American gun manufacturer. She gave our kids stock, too each company chosen for their own particular interests. It was a great present.
But this gift led to something unusual. Ruger issues dividends on a regular basis, and with only a single share of stock to my name, Id often joke that it cost them more money to send me the dividend than it did to give me the dividend. Some months this dividend was as low as eighteen cents, but usually it came in at around forty-two cents. Still it was nice to know that my company was profitable. However, today I got something new, something unprecedented. I got a dividend check for $5.42 about ten times the average payment.
That got me thinking. Why so much? Why now?
So I went looking, and found in Forbes, in an article called Voting With Their Guns, reported that June gun sales were at an all-time record high. The Washington Free Beacon noted that, in August of this year, there were yet another record number of guns sold at least 1.6 million guns which is up 43 percent from August of 2019. This may be especially significant since virtually all gun shows have been closed by COVID-19, as have gun stores in states which didnt deem legal gun sales essential in a crisis that was tearing at the very foundation of our nation.

How many of these first timers have any concept of firearm safety?
Hopefully many of them.
L
How many of these first-timers will vote for Biden?
Last month I was in a pawn shop, just looking around, and there were several black customers looking for guns.
An older, heavy-set black lady was asking about a .45 hand cannon and the pawn store guy looked at me (I had asked if he had a used CZ 52) and we both looked at the lady and I said, “You might want something smaller.”
She was genuinely offended and said, “what do you mean?!” I asked her if she’d ever shot a .45 at the range before. She said, “What do I need a range for?!”
The pawn shop guy was more about safety than money, so he proceeded to tell her why she didn’t need a gun that would fly out of her hand(s) the first time she shot it.
More of Bloomberg’s cash flushed down the toilet.
There will be idiots in every crowd, but people of the mindset to purchase a firearm have given some thought to the matter. I hope they will at least go to a range to play with their new toys, if not take an NRA course. It is difficult to avoid range safety. Every time I have been out shooting there is always someone there and they would not allow unsafe people be on the range with them. Personally, I have helped newbies on the range. There is no way I am interacting with anyone unless they are safe from the start. So that is where I begin to help them.
Obama’s cellphones, Biden’s firearms.
The shop owner took a risk by trying to educate her and putting safety first. She could have accused him of racism and sicked the SJWers on him.
A membership in the NRA should be the next step after purchasing your first firearm. So many of these first timers dont realize that the same people who put them in a position of needing personal protection are trying to take their new firearms from them.
Maybe she was just looking for something with a good resale value?
Thats exactly the nightmare scenario Im concerned about.
I bought another pistol and I am not a first timer. I have a well practiced sense of weapon safety after decades of weapons ownership, training in the military and a visit to Frontsight. Not all recent records were set by first time purchasers.
Quite a few of these people are walking around with the rioters.
They are not purchasing guns for the reasons folks on this website would.
The up side, if you want to call it that, is these goofs BELIEVE that TV doesn't lie to them. After all, how hard can it be to operate a gun?
Any Conservative does it, and it takes them years to get good at it. A Leftist, who is MUCH smarter than any Deplorable, will be able to pick it up in a few days, in the middle of a fire fight.
Recall also, that anyone who actually enlists in the Air Force is too stupid to go to college and study Gender. Army and Marines? Pullease! It's a given that they are retarded. They take that silly Oath thing seriously. How can they POSSIBLY compete with a Social Justice Warrior, who understands the true Meaning of Wokeness?
I saw a movie where a woman picked up an empty gun, for the first time, and killed the Bad Guy, with one shot, at the other end of the alley, a good 200 yards, from the hip, first round, with her eyes squinched shut.
It MUST be true, or they wouldn't be allowed to put it on TV.
Great news. They probably spent an average of $300-$800 for their new gun and ammo and any accessories. Now they’re going to vote for politicians who will confiscate them? I think not. This is a sea change that dimocrats did not predict. The ground always shifts under them when they try to attack the country or its people. This election they will find out that the voting blocs that they have always taken for granted will have eroded significantly.

Actually, funny story, but another black woman walked in who was friends with the pawn store owner with a 9mm on her hip and took the .45 woman aside and told her that she really didn’t want that gun lol
Lotta black people buying guns.
Yeah, but the thread was about first time buyers.
IMO, this is where the NRA is falling down - with all their bucks, they could make a deal with those dealers interested, to include a complimentary 3-months membership or at least send a bundle of safety pamphlets to issue with each sale..
Makes way too much sense to ever happen.
