It’s the C&O Canal. Not very large. Think mule on path pulling small flatbed boat. It runs through Georgetown and is a popular spot for runners in the DC area. The path is nice and flat, although narrow as it winds through Georgetown. I believe it ran all the way to Lake Erie at one point in history. Lots of creepy homeless people living along it. I used to run there at lunch as there were lots of other runners and bikers so it was safe. No freakin way Michelle Antoinette every walked it!

C&O Canal - That is the name I remember from the books I’ve read...when it played a part in a story. Chesapeake and Ohio? It always included some of the history - cabins along the canal? I wish I could remember the author of the books that wrote about it - one character lived in one of them. The cabins all had names with plaques attached on them.

It very well could have run to Lake Erie. I grew up in upstate NY and I can’t even remember the name of the canal there - Erie Canal? There was a song about it! Yep - The Erie Canal Song - Low Bridge, Everybody Down. Boy - am I dating myself!!! I’m sure when we sang that as kids, we didn’t have a clue what it meant.

I’m with you - I don’t believe that obama woman ever walked her dogs - on the grounds of the WH or outside the grounds! That is what Mychal Massie calls her and it fits so I’ve adopted it!
