Its a true talent to unite a team within the lines of a football field, but its something else altogether to bring a group of young men together outside the game.
Thats what Alabama head coach Nick Saban helped do on Monday when his players organized a march to protest racial injustice within the country. Although Saban was at the front of the line and the first to speak outside Foster Auditorium at the conclusion of the march, he wanted to ensure the people that the reason this was happening is from listening to his athletes.
This is what helped me grow in my role as a leader, to listen to the players, to learn from the players and give them opportunities to do things that could impact social change today, said Saban. Today Im like a proud parent. Im proud of our messengers over here and Im very proud of the message.
Im very proud of the All lives cant matter until Black Lives Matter video that we did early on that I think had a very positive impact. That was something we did together as a team. This is something that the team decided to do together as a team, so Im very proud and supportive of what they are trying to say, and in a peaceful and intelligent way. Im very pleased to be here.
Senior running back Najee Harris was one of the players right up in front with Saban and one of the big orchestrators in putting the march together and also one of the biggest advocates of Saban as a players coach.
Back in August Harris raved about Sabans willingness to listen to the team when it comes to issues of race...

You really think football players at ‘bama are going to real classes??
Oh goody, another virtue signalling asshole. Suckers are bustin’ out all over the place!
I doubt he believes in BLM but like you said, he's getting paid millions so obviously he has to play along.
Remember the enablers and collaborators
And these guys say what about those killed by BLM?
Is the Lingerie Football League still around?
“I wonder if Alabama head coach Nick Saban is aware of what his athletes are being taught in college? “
You are assuming:
1. They go to class
2. They are awake in class
And I thought Nick was one of the good ones.
He has his orders: Jump! How high? Crap! What color?
Looks like a hostage video to me. I”m surprised he’s not wearing orange.
I hope they said a prayer for the little 6 yro white boy murdered while riding his bike by a mattered person...infact, lots of mattered people killing the non mattered but shhh....its forbidden to even think about THAT disparity....
SCREW THEM ALL.
Killing football...
Racism, racism, racism this, racism thatsick of it already. Theres no systemic racism and no laws on the books for it anywhere. Marches? WTH this aint 1963 a tired rehashing and bashing..
77% of all black kids are born out of wedlock. No Daddy, punk thugs result.
I am not surprised. At this point these head coaches think they have to play this game to keep players motivated and win games. Saban will do whatever he has to do to win.
Let him. I have no interest in participating in this charade.
This happened at Missouri a couple of years ago.
School should have told them to pound sand.
> I doubt he believes in BLM but like you said, he’s getting paid millions so obviously he has to play along. <
Youd think that these coaches would have at least some dignity and self-respect. At a minimum, heres the way I would have handled it.
BLM players: We demand that you march with us!
Me: No can do. My lumbago is acting up again. And Ive got arthritis of the Metamucil. So Ive got to take a pass.
I think we should all do our part by contributing to the NFL bail fund. What do you think?
Racism has been solved forever?
That’s wonderful.
Was getting really tired of the unending ‘inferiority complex’...
