This sort of court packing intention will move the justices to the left. None of them want their power diluted. No need to pack the court if the existing court concedes.

FDR's court packing intention resulted in obscene and intellectually corrupt expansion of federal power, mangling of the plain language of the constitution by SCOTUS.

I doubt that even such an ideological shift inside SCOTUS would appease the dems in congress if they could pack the court. When FDR tried to pack the court there were some dems in congress who opposed FDR for this.

One of them said that court packing was "on the same moral plane as ballot box stuffing [note the connection to mail in voting] and jury rigging." Today's dems are different.
