I don’t think this is exactly a game-changer. I thought we already knew that various conditions left folks more vulnerable to dying of covid. What exactly is new here? Okay, maybe that 6% of folks who died had absolutely nothing else wrong with them and other than covid were models of perfect health. Okay, fine. Why is that significant when half, hell 2/3rds, of America over 60 has got something wrong with them, diabetes, high blood pressure copd, etc.?
Its significant if only because the amount of fear-mongering that can be done with less than 10,000 deaths is far less than with 160,000. Nothing underlying has changed, but CDC is suddenly being more honest about what is actually going on.
We have no way of knowing how many of those >160000 deaths actually had COVID-19 as a comorbidity, and how many were just counted as that for financial reasons.
I've been wanting to see how overall death rates have been affected for some time - finally found a source that covers it and it indicates that Covid ain't the culprit they have been trying to make of it.
