This is the change in David’s relationship with God. He transgressed bigly with Bathsheba. He is no longer the model king. “She cut your hair” - he is no longer a Nazarene, wholly dedicated to God.
To me this piece has always screamed David and Bathsheba. But it is quite rough for a church setting.
In spite of David’s transgressions, the Lord continued to bless him and he remains in the imperfect line of our perfect King.
But you already knew this stuff.
I don’t have a problem with Trump using this music. David and Trump are imperfect and drawn to beautiful women. David slayed Goliath just as we pray that Trump will slay the deep state.
