He felt safe, he knew you were in no danger so he was cool.
As soon as he heard the screaming he knew this was an ‘’on guard’’ situation. Discordant noise upsets dogs because their hearing is super sensitive. They can hear high and low frequency noise. The vibe those little bastards were emitting made him think you were in danger so he wanted to eliminate it. Dobermans are very good at being aggressive. Certain breeds of dogs have an instinct to protect females and little kids. An Irish setter my family had many years ago was VERY protective of my mother and my two kid sisters.
He freaking LOVES little kids.
All my Dobes did/do.
We had to put up a 6’ stockade fence in the backyard because the squeals/screams of happiness of the neighbor’s grandkids when he played with them, freaked the dogs out.
They thought the kids were being attacked and responded in kind.
Hate that fence but it keeps the dogs calmer.
Hrafn’s half-sister, Seven, is more reserved *but* she surprised us one day coming out of PetSmart, where she’d just had her birthday thing.
A scroungy guy was harassing a man and his little boy [turned out he wanted money] and Lenny took a step towards them to help but Seven gave me the leash burn from Hell as she lunged towards the jerk and dragged me along behind her as she went full speed ferocity at him.
And these were people she didn’t even know.
Shoulda seen that guy run.
Both of them are Aries...dogs of war.
:D
