In the early 1980's I was up in the training area of my company when I noticed a poster on the wall that had pictures of famous homosexuals throughout history, and one of them was a Catholic Pope from the 1500's. I went to HR to complain about it and was sent to what would have been their version of a diversity officer at the time. Since time travel hadn't been invented yet I wondered how they could speculate on a long-dead person's sexuality then put it on a poster as a matter of historical fact. I also pointed out that there was a history of bad blood between Gay activists and the Catholic church, which was motivation for them to include something that was impossible to prove as a means to slander a group they were at odds with. She took all of the information down and promised to get back to me.
A couple of days later she let me know that she had called the group who made the poster and they assured her that the Pope was indeed a homosexual so the poster would remain. So MSNBC-style fact checking is nothing new.

The mayor of Seattle, Jenny Anne Durkan, is an out of the closet homosexual and, sadly, a Notre Dame alumna, Class of 1980. Shame on her.

What facts are they trying to check? Like the WaPo that tried to fact check this same thing? They listed all the major violent cities and per capita ALL were dem ran and controlled for DECADES.
